From June 24 to October 5, 2025, the Mario Rimoldi Museum of Modern Art will present an exhibition dedicated to the late fellow citizen Paolo Gabriele Barozzi, painter - designer - art decorator, but above all friend and, for many years, precious collaborator of the Rimoldi Museum.
Having passed away prematurely on June 15 last year, in addition to his paintings, so rich in great mastery and deep feeling, Paolo left recognizable "traces", scattered here and there in the Ampezzo valley and beyond: in the chapels of the Casa di Riposo, Chiave, Cadin, Vervei, at the Pontejèl Bierstube Forst, at the Hotel Ambra, in numerous private villas, at the Nuovo Passo Giau hotel, on the tombstone of the Fallen in War at the cemetery and so on.
In love with Cortina, where he was born 70 years ago, he contributed to making it more dignified with his refined and cultured taste. A culture that spanned many fields, which Paolo never stopped nurturing and which is clearly evident in his works. Although he imagined his works first and foremost in the environmental context linked to them rather than in an exhibition, we thought it was important, in agreement with the family, to make them known to a wider audience.
An exhibition born out of friendship and gratitude and which, for this very reason, will also display some works by four of Paolo's friends, each in their own way, enraptured by art and who shared with him the gift and pleasure of knowing how to express their feelings through pencils, brushes and more: they are Emilio Bassanin, Gianfranco Mantovani Orsetti, Tobia Ravà and Giovannibattista Segurini. The artist Giovanni Schiaroli also joined them.
The idea of creating a "convivio", where they could work in friendship, each with their own skills and originality, Paolo had expressed it several times: a section of the exhibition, which will be spread over two floors of the Rimoldi Museum, will represent precisely this.
The official opening of the exhibition will be held in July.
